It’s about steroids folks. Nothing more. In recent statements made to the press, Cyborg made a lot of self-righteous points. She said she would end Ronda Rousey’s career like she did Gina Carano’s. She would prove to everyone that she could make 135lb’s by fighting first for the Invicta 135lb belt, and then move in to the UFC to take Ronda’s. She even said she would submit herself to weekly testing once she began her training camp to fight Rousey, proving to everyone she is clean.

Well she still isn’t clean until she apologizes for knowingly taking steroids in the first place. Someone who is clean never cheats in competition by using steroids, or neglects apologizing afterwards so her fans and critics can actually forgive her.

She did neither of these things. After she was busted for steroid use in Strikeforce in 2012, she claimed it was an accident. Instead of admitting she was juicing and brutally knocking out her opponents with the added benefit of steroids in the process, she said it was an accident. She would like us to believe she bought a supplement that appeared legal.

But her lying didn’t stop there. After claiming she couldn’t fight at 135lb’s for medical reasons, Cyborg found a doctor to corroborate her claims of not being able to make 135. But she said she could compete against Rousey at a catch weight of 140 even though a doctor said her life would be threatened if she cut down to 135, just five pounds shy of what she believed she could pull off.

In her most recent statements she made about her desire to fight Rousey at 135, she claimed her prior statements about not being able to make weight were simply lost in translation.

So when she said cutting down to 135lb’s would kill her, in Portuguese, being killed means eating ice cream at the park at sunset if you translate it to English. So she should be good apparently. Thanks for making people who hated your blatant lies before have to now feel dumb for being fed these new ones.

Cyborg cheats and lies. There are times in her career where she would even show up over weight for a fight as if it was an accident. Imagine if she was on steroids then? That would mean she would juice up, come in overweight, and then blast her way through someone the next day who had followed the rules and hand not resorted to cheating. That’s borderline assault.

Congratulations Cyborg, you’re not going to do steroids again even though you never apologized the first time. I would love to believe that Rousey would take her arm off and beat her with it. But in truth, there’s a higher likelihood that Cyborg will step in to the cage and turn Rousey’s face in to pounded hamburger like she’s done against every other opponent she’s ever faced.

However much I would like to believe Cyborg’s skills in the cage were a testament to steroid use and showing up a weight class bigger than her opponents, it’s probably not an accurate account of her abilities. Cyborg is one of the most talented mixed martial artists to have walked the planet. She is on the level of Mike Tyson in the women’s world of combat sports, and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Of course Rousey has never done anything but finish her opponents as well. Unfortunately where Rousey is really good at arm bars, she isn’t nearly as polished in the striking department as her trainer Edmond Tarverdyan and UFC president Dana White would like everyone to believe.

She’s not bad of course, but she can’t hang with Cyborg if she plans on wind milling her way forward with her chin out in the way she has done for every professional fight to date in her young career. Plus, if Cyborg can slam Tito Ortiz in training, she is capable of stopping Ronda’s takedowns. If Ronda can’t take this thing to the ground, she will get picked apart quickly on the feet. No one can take punches from Cyborg, I don’t care who it is.

But Rousey is still the champ. She’s been fighting stiffer competition than Cyborg as well recently. Once Cyborg was suspended in Strikeforce, the top level competition in WMMA moved over to the UFC since Zuffa’s acquisition.

Not to take anything away from Invicta, but as far as bantamweight and featherweight competition go, all the best moved to the UFC women’s bantamweight division over a year ago. Rousey has a shot in this case, especially if Cyborg comes over and earns an immediate title shot in an organization where first time Octagon jitters is almost scientific fact at this point.

Now I had about as much as I could take when I saw Cyborg’s recent comments about her career and fighting Ronda, but when it comes down to it, I want to see this fight just as bad as the next guy. Whenever combat sports can pit two fighters against each other, who only know what it’s like to finish everyone who’s put in front of them, and has never tasted defeat or even a losing round, the rest of us monkeys are itching to shake the branches safe in the trees as the two baddest animals sort out who’s the Queen of the jungle, on the ground.

If Cyborg is sick of people judging her, she needs to stop lying and cheating. Until then, I hope she does feel the animosity from the fans. People don’t like Rousey because she’s kind of a dick. Cyborg is the nicest person in the world on the other hand, but she cheats and lies her way through her career, and that’s what draws negative criticism to her doorstep. It would be fun to see how fans would react too two of the biggest heals in WMMA today, if the fight ever happens.

What’s more is these two women hate each other. Rousey hates Cyborg for all the cheating and how she ended her friend’s career in Gina Carano while probably on steroids. Cyborg hates Rousey for the vast amount of trash she has talked about the Brazilian over the years. This fight would be the most bitter of ordeals the sport has seen if it happens because neither woman would tolerate losing to the other.

Like Cyborg said in a chilling interview during her recent suspension with Marcus Kowal from Studio MMA, “She wants my arm and I want her head.”

Both have taken these from every opponent they have faced up to this point and both would rather sacrifice their arm or face than tap out or quit. One will break the other if they eventually meet, so let’s hope Ronda stays on top, but don’t hold your breath while Cyborg is still lurking in the shadows as champion in Invicta.
