UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones edged out a win over Alexander Gustafsson on September 21st. If I was a betting man, I would say their performance will win fight of the year for sure. The feeling I had was indescribable. The closest thing I can think of was the feeling I had when I watched Forrest Griffin vs Stephen Bonner.
Both of those men were willing to die for that win and it showed. Up until Gus stepped in to the cage, Jones looked unbeatable. With that said, I don’t know who else in the division is on the same level of those two. Glover Teixeira is up next but I would rather see the immediate rematch myself.
I see Jones and Gus fighting at least two more times. Who knows though, maybe Teixeira will catch him with a hook. In the next few months there are some good fights coming up in this division so make sure to tune in. Make sure to tweet me your top ten list if you disagree.

#1 Alexander Gustafsson
Alex showed a ton of heart in his last fight against Jon Jones. I personally believe he won three rounds to two but with another win I think he will get his rematch.
#2 Glover Teixeira
Undefeated in the octagon and rocking a pretty impressive 22-2 record, Glover will be squaring off with the champion on February 1st in Newark New Jersey
#3 Rashad Evans
Coming off a split decision win over Dan Henderson, Rashad is looking to prove he still has what it takes to be a contender. Rashad’s next fight is against The American Gangster himself Chael Sonnen at UFC 167 on November 16th.
#4 Phil Davis
Recently beating former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, Davis has put three wins together in a row and has shown he deserves his place in the top five. He doesn’t have a fight lined up at the moment.
#5 Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Winning his last bout against former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, Li’l Nog is looking to string up some wins and work his way up the ranks. He doesn’t have a fight lined up yet.
#6 Dan Henderson
Hedo is set to fight Vitor Belfort at 205lbs on November 9th. They last fought back in the PRIDE organization in 2006. This rematch should be a fun one to watch.
#7 Chael Sonnen
After losing to Jones, Sonnen took on Mauricio Rua and shocked a ton of people by finishing the future hall of famer in the first round via submission. Chael will meet Rashad Evans in the octagon on November 16th.
#8 Mauricio Rua
After being finished by Chael Sonnen, Shogun will be looking to Demolish James Te Huna on December 7th. I guess we will see if he still has it.
#9 Gegard Mousasi
It’s hard not to have Mousasi in your top ten. The former Dream and Strikeforce champion is 1-0 in the UFC. He doesn’t have a fight lined up at the moment.
#10 Ryan Bader
Looking pretty good up until Glover clipped him and knocked him out, I thought Ryan was going to pull off an upset. Bader is fighting Anthony Perosh on December 6th.
