Please note that the featherweight rankings were last updated on March 28, 2013 and that those rankings will be listed in parenthesis:

~ 1 (1) ~

Jose Aldo

Jose Aldo had a good year defending his belt against Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung. Unfortunately a broken foot from the fight with the latter sidelined him for the rest of the year. He is now set to face Ricardo Lamas at UFC 169 on Superbowl weekend in the co-main event.

~ 2 (3) ~

Ricardo Lamas

There was a severe lack of activity from Ricardo Lamas this year mainly due to the fact that his opponent for UFC 162 Chan Sung Jung aka “The Korean Zombie” was pulled from his fight to face Champion Jose Aldo. Lamas is now set to face the Aldo at UFC 169.

~ 3 (4) ~

Chad Mendes

Chad Mendes had an extremely good year going 3-0 and making an argument that the Team Alpha member should get a crack at the winner of the match up between Jose Aldo and Ricardo Lamas. Should Aldo win it would be an opportunity to avenge his only career loss.

~ 4 (6) ~

Cub Swanson

Without a doubt Cub Swanson put himself back into title contention by defeating the likes of rising prospect Dustin Poirier and longtime veteran and ranked fighter Dennis Siver. Another win or two in 2014 should give Swanson a sound argument for a shot at Jose Aldo.

~ 5 (5) ~

Chan Sung Jung

The Korean Zombie’s only contest this year resulted in a shoulder injury and loss against Champion Jose Aldo. Look for him to rebound when his shoulder fully heals.

~ 6 (8) ~

Dennis Siver

Dennis Siver had an up and down year with a loss to Cub Swanson but rebounded against Manny Gamburyan. Look for a good 2014 for him.

~ 7 (7) ~

Clay Guida

The Carpenter was another example of a fighter who had an up and down year with Guida going 1-1 in 2013. He needs a solid rebound soon.

~ 8 (N/A) ~

Frankie Edgar

Frankie Edgar is another member of this list to have gone 1-1. He is now set to coach opposite BJ Penn for TUF 20 and face him afterwards.

~ 9 (2) ~

Pat Curran

Without a doubt Pat Curran under performed against Daniel Straus. Word is that Curran will get an immediate rematch but isn’t confirmed.

~ 10 (10) ~

Nik Lentz

Lentz started the year on a good note it ended when he fought a fever recovering Chad Mendes and lost. He will need to rebound in 2014.
