Please note that due to suspension Dennis Siver is currently ineligible for the rankings. Also the last rankings (5/20/14) are in parenthesis:

1. Jose Aldo (1)

An injury to Jose Aldo has resulted in the cancellation of UFC 176 and the postponement of his title defense against Chad Mendes. This is only the second time in the history of the UFC that a pay per view fight card cancellation has taken place though this could have gone on.

2. Chad Mendes (2)

Chad Mendes second title shot will have to wait because of the injury to champion Jose Aldo that will result in UFC 176’s cancellation. However, Mendes will probably take the time to be patient and wait to continue to train for his rematch with the featherweight UFC king pin.

3. Ricardo Lamas (3)

With his rebound win against Hacran Dias, Ricardo Lamas is still in the hunt for a title shot should he continue to rack up the wins. However, considering the number of contenders and the way Jose Aldo dismantled him, it may take a while should he get another chance.

4. Cub Swanson (4)

Cub Swanson‘s most recent victory against Jeremy Stephens should be another part of his current six fight win streak to earn a title shot. However, he’ll have to wait while Jose Aldo recovers from his injury and Chad Mendes is next in line for the very coveted chanced title shot.

5. Frankie Edgar (5)

After his longtime coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter, Frankie Edgar finally got his trilogy fight against BJ Penn gaining a TKO victory.

6. Dustin Poirier (6)

Dustin Poirier hasn’t fought since The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale but regardless of when he’ll fight again he’s still a force to recon with.

7. Nik Lentz (7)

He got his rebound against Manny Gamburyan and now Nik Lentz will be facing Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 50 in September.

8. Clay Guida (8)

Clay Guida had a good rebound against Tatsuya Kawajiri and will now face Dennis Bermudez at UFC on Fox 12 coming up July 26th.

9. Pat Curran (10)

Under the old tournament system Pat Curran has three contenders waiting for title shots. However, whether he’ll face them is questionable.

10. Jeremy Stephens (N/A)

Jeremy Stephens three fight winning streak at featherweight came to a stop when he lost to Cub Swanson. He is still very dangerous.

Contenders

The following fighter received votes for the rankings and is currently listed as a contender: Chan Sung Jung (ineligible come August 3rd).
