Ronda Rousey will defend her freshly minted UFC championship belt against Liz Carmouche on February 23rd at UFC 157. Most of us believe Rousey will finish Carmouche, many feel this one shouldn’t be a main event fight, and even more are confused by women’s involvement in the UFC or even MMA to begin with.

What’s important to take away from all of the controversy is that this fight matters, and not just for women, for the sport of MMA as a whole. My stance on women’s MMA was reinforced after watching the first episode of UFC 157 Primetime: Rousey vs. Carmouche. It’s very moving and adeptly showcases two of the best UFC fighters in the world.

Watch the first episode in the video below and stop back in at mma-freak.com for the second episode which will air on February 14th.
