Josh Barnett is not someone to take likely in the mixed martial arts world, regardless of his absence from the sport’s premier organization, or his very dramatic personality traits. If you know Barnett, you know what I’m talking about.

He’s definitely back in the mix in the heavyweight division though, after last nights first round knockout of Frank Mir. Both men were ranked at 10 and 6 respectively among the heavyweights. Where Barnett was closing out the bottom of the top ten list, he’s definitely moving a spot or two closer to the top.

Unfortunately, the win did not occur without incident. The referee stopped Barnett while he had Mir badly hurt, and many feel it could have been allowed to continue, at least a little bit longer. All three in Frank Mir, Josh Barnett, and Dana White expressed concern about the stoppage. Of course Mir was much more disappointed with the stoppage than either White or Barnett.
