We survived the UFC double header this weekend so we can actually talk about it. So let’s look into it and the fight night this next weekend:
UFC Fight Night: Munoz vs. Mousasi
Main Event: Mark Munoz #9 Middleweight vs. Gegard Mousasi
Prediction: Mousasi by strikes. Result: Mousasi by submission. Mousasi got his rebound win by handing Munoz his second loss in a row.
Co-main Event: Francis Carmont vs. C.B. Dollaway
Prediction: Dollaway by strikes. Result: Dollaway by decision. Dollaway used his superior wrestling and striking to control Carmont all fight.
Luke Barnatt vs. Sean Strickland
Prediction: Barnatt by submission. Result: Strickland by decision. This was a close fight with the victory going to Strickland who pulled it.
Tom Niinimaki vs. Niklas Backstrom
Prediction: Niinimaki by submission. Result: Backstrom by submission. Late replacement and promotional newcomer backstrom won it.
Overall score: 1.5/4; 0.375 prediction percentage. 0.5 for Mousasi, 0.5 for Dollaway’s decision, and 0.5 for Backstrom’s submission win.
The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale: Miocic vs. Maldonado
Main Event: Stipe Miocic #7 Heavyweight vs. Fabio Maldonado
Prediction: Miocic by strikes. Result: Same. Miocic was simply too big and too strong for Maldonado and needed 35 seconds to finish him.
Co-main Event: Vitor Miranda vs. Antonio Carlos Jr.
Prediction: Miranda by strikes. Result: Carlos by decision. A constant pace and take downs is how Carlos earned the TUF Brazil 3 title.
Marcio Alexandre Jr. vs. Warlley Alves
Prediction: Alves by submission. Result: Same. Alves was already controlling the fight before he sunk in his trademark guillotine choke.
Demian Maia #8 Welterweight vs. Alexander Yakovlev
Prediction: Yakovlev by submission. Result: Maia by decision. Maia controlled the Russian but failed to gain his trademark submission.
Rony Mariano Bezerra vs. Robbie Peralta
Prediction: Bezerra by submission. Result: Peralta by decision. Peralta was able to pull an upset against the original TUF Brazil winner.
Overall score: 2/5; 0.4 prediction percentage. 1 for Stipe Miocic’s victory by strikes and 1 for Warlley Alves’ submission by guillotine choke.
UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Khabilov
Main Event: Benson Henderson #3 Lightweight vs. Rustam Khabilov
Prediction: Henderson by decision. Henderson has been in wars with the best whereas Khabilov has victories over no top ten ranked people.
Co-main Event: Diego Sanchez vs. Ross Pearson
Prediction: Sanchez by submission. Sanchez not only has the experience factor but has an intensity that Pearson just does not posses.
John Dodson #2 Flyweight vs. John Moraga #5 Flyweight
Prediction: Moraga by submission. This is a rematch of their controversial Nemesis Fighting match, however Moraga has improved a bit.
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Jason High
Prediction: High by submission. High is two for three since his return to the UFC from Strikeforce and is looking to only continue improving.
Yves Edwards vs. Piotr Hallmann
Prediction: Hallmann by strikes. Edwards despite his experience is starting to slide and maybe headed out of the UFC with another loss.
Erik Perez vs. Bryan Caraway
Prediction: Caraway by submission. Caraway’s only loss at bantamweight is to Takeya Mizugaki so we will see if he can get another win.
