Zak Cummings has come forward about a situation regarding a personal family member.
Not before finishing his last fight against Ben Alloway on August 28, 2013, Cummings found out that his dad had been sent to the hospital and needed assistance to breathe.
Ben Aloway was looking to rebound from a losing effort in his last outing inside the octagon, while Zak Cummings was looking to make his official debut since competing on TUF: Jones vs Sonnen. Not only did Cummings earn the debut victory, but also picked up the SOTN award and bonus.
Although with the win, Cummings I’m sure was unable to focus on the win and celebrate as his concern for his father had taken over.
Earlier this evening Zak explained his absence or lack of involvement online and on social media tools.
“So an hour after my @UFC fight I was told that my dad was in the ICU with a ventilator, breathing for him,” wrote Zak via facebook. “After 2 weeks he’s miraculously progressed off the ventilator and hopefully coming home with me on hospice tomorrow. Sorry for ignoring everyone and I do thank you for all the support. Family comes first and all my attention has been here in Springfield with him. Love you guys.”
Zak made it clear he did not intend to ignore anyone but family does come first, and that his mind has been in Springfield,IL with him.
