It’s been all Bellator these past two weeks as we slide from September into October. So with that here we go with a look at Bellator 101 results:
Bellator 101 in Review
Main Event: Joe Warren vs. Nick Kirk
Prediction: Warren by decision. Result: Warren by submission. This was to be expected as Warren worked with Greg Jackson for this fight. However, I do feel I should note that this is basically a fast track for Warren to get a title shot as this is only a two fight tournament.
Co-main Event: Marcus Davis vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy
Prediction: Sarnavskiy by submission. Result: Same. In reality Davis should be considering retirement because of the punishment he’s taken over his career. It didn’t help that he had a journeyman career in boxing prior to his entry into MMA which has only contributed to possible brain damage.
John Alessio vs. Will Brooks
Prediction: Brooks by strikes. Result: Brooks by decision. Brooks’s well rounded fight game and experience in the Bellator helped him advance.
Saad Awad vs. Martin Stapleton
Prediction: Stapleton by decision. Result: Awad by submission. Awad’s promotional experience helped get him through to the next fight.
Rich Clementi vs. Ricardo Tirloni
Prediction: Clementi by submission. Result: Tirloni by decision. Tirloni took this fight on 18 days notice and stepped up to the occasion. Also Clementi’s long career has definitely had more then a few ups and downs.
Overall score: 2/5; .4 prediction percentage. 0.5 for Warren’s win, 1 for Sarnavskiy’s win over Marcus Davis, and 0.5 for Brooks win.
Bellator 102 Predictions
Main Event: Cheick Kongo vs. Mark Godbeer
Prediction: Kongo by strikes. Cheick Kongo’s a striker and in reality this tournament is a short cut for Kongo to get a heavyweight title shot.
Co-main Event: Lavar Johnson vs. Vinicius Queiroz
Prediction: Johnson by strikes. Johnson has more overall experience having fought some big names in the UFC. We will see how this goes.
Rafael Silva vs. Anthony Leone
Prediction: Leone by decision. Leone is undefeated in his past four fights including two Bellator bouts and the tournament first round fight.
Jason Butcher vs. Mikkel Parlo
Prediction: Butcher by submission. Butcher is undefeated with all finishes and four Bellator fights including the preliminary round this season.
Perry Filkins vs. Brennan Ward
Prediction: Filkins by strikes. This is honestly a close fight that can go either way because the two fighters are so similar in their fight records.
