In a month that’s full of UFC Fight Nights we are one down and the second one is coming up next week on Wednesday. Let’s take a look:
UFC Fight Night: Saffiedine vs. Lim Review
Main Event: Tarec Saffiedine vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
Prediction: Saffiedine by decision. Result: Same. Saffiedine has extremely nasty leg kicks and even though he didn’t finish Lim he dominated. A match with a top 10 opponent should put him into title contention and gain him some recognition on a larger scale.
Co-main Event: Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Sean Soriano
Prediction: Kawajiri by strikes. Result: Kawajiri by submission. Kawajiri’s submission game is underrated but it was used well in this match.
Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Liuz Dutra
Prediction: Dutra by decision. Result: Kunimoto by disqualification. This is another example of why the 12 to 6 elbow rule should probably be reconsidered or altered completely.
Kyung-Ho Hang vs. Shunichi Shimizu
Prediction: Hang by submission. Result: Same. Bantamweight is a thin division and Hang can win a few more and get into title contention.
Overall score: 2.5/4; 0.625 prediction percentage. 1 for Saffiedine and Hang’s wins and 0.5 for Kawajiri’s submission win instead of strikes.
UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou
Main Event: Luke Rockhold vs. Costa Philippou
Prediction: Rockhold by submission. After a defeat at the hands of Vitor Belfort, Rockhold is looking to rebound against Costa Philippou. This match will show whether he should be considered a top 10 middleweight or whether he needs more experience.
Co-main Event: Lorenz Larkin vs. Brad Tavares
Prediction: Tavares by decision. The Ultimate Fighter 11 alumni has gone on a four fight winning streak looking to continue improvement.
T.J. Dillashaw vs. Mike Easton
Prediction: Easton by decision. Easton is one more loss away from probably getting cut from the UFC but has the skills to beat Dillashaw.
Yoel Romero vs. Derek Brunson
Prediction: Romero by strikes. Romero has adjusted from wrestling extremely well with a striking game to be feared by others in the UFC.
John Moraga vs. Dustin Ortiz
Prediction: Moraga by submission. Moraga will be looking to rebound from his loss to Demetrious Johnson back in July of this last year.
Cole Miller vs. Sam Sicilia
Prediction: Sicilia by strikes. Sicilia recently pulled off a win and will be looking to put a winning streak together against Cole Miller.
