Tournaments have ended and are ending. This includes Bellator Season 9 and The Ultimate Fighter 18. So here we go with the previews:
Bellator 109 in Review
Main Event: Alexander Shlamenko vs. Doug Marshall
Prediction: Shlamenko by strikes. Result: Same. Shlamenko’s striking is at an elite level and Marshall could not put a stop his reign as champ.
Co-main Event: Rich Hawn vs. Ron Keslar
Prediction: Hawn by strikes. Result: Same. Hawn has been here before so this is no surprise, even though he did start as a late replacement.
Will Brooks vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy
Prediction: Sarnavskiy by submission. Result: Brooks by decision. Brooks only loss was avenged in the last round and now he’s a winner.
Nathan Coy vs. Unknown opponent
Prediction: Coy by decision. Result: Coy pulled from card without an opponent. Bellator is unpredictable with replacements and the like.
Terry Etim vs. Patrick Cenoble
Prediction: Etim by submission. Result: Etim by decision. Etim made a name for himself in his Bellator debut so we can expect great things.
Overall score: 2.5/4; 0.625 prediction percentage. 1 for Shlamenko’s win, 1 for Rick Hawn’s wins and 0.5 for Terry Etim’s decision win.
TUF 18 Finale: Team Rousey vs. Tate Predictions
*Note that due to the main card not being set I will make predictions but not all the predicted fights will be on the main broadcast.
Main Event: Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz
Prediction: Maynard by decision. There is a reason why Maynard is called “The Bully” and he also has the game to neutralize Diaz’s BJJ.
Co-main Event: Julianna Pena vs. Raquel Pennington or Jessica Rakoczy
Prediction: Pena by submission in both cases. Pena has been on a role with her submission game in the house under training partner Tate.
Chris Holdsworth vs. David Grant
Prediction: Holdsworth by submission. Once again Holdsworth was a great submission specialist and only improved under Meisha Tate.
Jessamyn Duke vs. Peggy Morgan
Prediction: Duke by submission. Duke is a finisher whereas Morgan’s only career finish was in her preliminary match to get into the house.
Roxanne Modafferi vs. Raquel Pennington or Jessica Rakoczy
Prediction: Modafferi by decision in both cases. If she faces Rokoczy again she’ll know what to expect, if not she knows teammate Pennington.
Akire Corassani vs. Maximo Blanco
Prediction: Corassani by decision. Corassani is currently undefeated in the UFC and is looking to continue his momentum at featherweight.
