Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez is one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history. With the first bout stopping at 1:04 in the 1st round due to a heavy right hand from Dos Santos, many fans were anxious for their rematch. However, when reports claimed that both of the heavy weight fighters were battling injuries when this fight took place, it only grew the level of eagerness fans had for this rematch to take place.

When they fought, it seemed as if Cain’s game plan was to feel Dos Santos out on his feet by exchanging with him a little bit and getting him comfortable striking then working for a takedown and putting some ground and pound into action. Velasquez excels with speed, power, and athleticism, and he seemed to be relying on these attributes until the right moment; however, the bout was ended with a heavy right hand before that moment came along for Velasquez.

This time out, a more aggressive Velasquez is expected. He will showcase his strength with speed, power, and overall athleticism and take the fight to the ground where he will look to impose his will and end the bout with a TKO victory via ground and pound.

Junior Dos Santos looked sharp with his striking in his first bout with Velasquez. Dos Santos kept a good distance in the feeling out process, avoided a takedown attempt, and landed the huge overhand right behind the left ear of Velasquez knocking the challenger to the ground. From there, Dos Santos pounced and ended the bout with bombs to the defeated Velasquez.

Dos Santos is widely believed to possess the best boxing skillset in the UFC heavy weight division. Dos Santos will showcase his speed, footwork, and power in their rematch at UFC 155. He will look to keep this fight standing using his long jab and straight right hand to set up one of his power shots and avoid Velasquez’s takedown attempts. It should not be forgotten that Dos Santos is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Team Nogueira. Therefore, Dos Santos is well versed on the ground as well if that is where the fight ends up.

Which of these two heavy weight fighters will execute their game plan at UFC 155 on December 29th, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas? Will a new heavy weight champion be crowned? There are no guarantees in the UFC; however, one thing can be guaranteed: do not blink during this fight. This is the perfect fight to wrap up the year of 2012.
