Last month was another fight with good fights and bad fights but none the less here are the best. Some are obvious:
10) Nik Lentz wins by technically knocking out Michael McBride – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem
In addition to winning against Michael McBride, Nik Lentz also gets twenty percent of his fight purse pay.
9) Adam Antolin submits Damacio Page – The Ultimate Fighter: Team Benavidez vs. Team Cejudo
Adam Antolin was able to pull a substantial upset against Damacio Page in the third episode of TUF 24.
8) Jessica Andrade submits Joanne Calderwood by guillotine choke – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem
This was an example of striker versus grappler in which the grappler won as Jessica Andrade subbed Jojo.
7) Jimmie Rivera wins via unanimous decision victory Urijah Faber – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem
Jimmie Rivera definitely pulled an upset by controlling the veteran Urijah Faber for all three of the rounds.
6) Fabricio Werdum win via unimous decision victory Travis Browne – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem
Without a doubt this fight was controversial as it was stopped to take care of Travis Browne‘s dislocated finger.
5) Hiromasa Ogikubo submits Nkazimulo Zulu – The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions
Despite the cultural and language differences, Hiromasa Ogikubo was able to strategize to defeat Nkazimulo Zulu. The win was the first victory for Team Benavidez who suffered early on in the competition many defeats.
4) Eric Shelton technically submits Yori Sherbatov – The Ultimate Fighter 24 – Upset of the Month
Eric Shelton was able to pull off arguably the upset of the season against Yori Shergatov who was the two seed.
3) Mickey Gall submits by choke CM Punk – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem – Submission of the Month
Many considered this fight a freak show, however Mickey Gall rose to the occasion and submitted Phil “CM Punk” Brooks who was humble in defeat. Though he said he’s coming back, Dana White has said otherwise.
2) Stipe Miocic knocks out Alistair Overeem – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem – Knockout of the Month
Considering the caliber of striker Alistair Overeem, this fight was bizarre. However Stipe Miocic earned his win. Afterwards Miocic led on the hometown crowed in an Ohio chant and earned a Fight of the Night bonus as well.
1) Bethe Correia split decisions Jessica Eye – UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem – Fight of the Month
Bethe Correia and Jessica Eye fought in such a close fight that the judges ultimately scored it a split decision. However, many including the hometown crowd of Evil Eye believed that the fight was judged rather poorly.
