~ #1 Pride goes before the fall ~
As a respectable fight community, we should never get tired of watching someone who says he could outbox both Klitschkos (JDS) get his ass kicked.
~ #2 Hit list ~
This one is actually a list of names: Chris Tuchscherer, Ben Rothwell, Check Kongo, and Stefan Struve. These four consecutive and most recent victims were all favored to win by our friends in Vegas. Junior Dos Santos(-420) is also “favored” this weekend. Mark Hunt may as well enter the arena wearing a cape that reads: “UNDERDOG.”
~ #3 Cardio ~
Besides all the voodoo I just covered above, there are big things people are overlooking when comparing these strikers. Is JDS faster than Mark Hunt?
Yes. Does Mark Hunt’s cardio cause concern? Yes. But, JDS struggles significantly when backing up. Mark Hunt only moves forward.
Junior was completely gassed out against Cain Velasquez (which only proves he’s not A+ in the cardio department). Mark Hunt was sucking air big time against Struve, but he won’t be dealing with an 84.5 inch reach this time either. JDS’ 77″ inch reach brings him right into harms way and that means less work is required this time for the Super Samoan (Hunt 74″).
~ #4 Chinny chin chins~
Junior was knocked to the canvas by Cain Velasquez (a man not known for power). Mark Hunt’s skull is made from a rare Samoan quartz (found within adamantium deposits near the Earth’s core).
Hunt was headkicked cleanly by Cro Cop in a K1 bout and still went on to lose a controversial decision in Japan. He would later avenge that loss in PRIDE.
~ #5 God ~
If you take a look at the resurgence of fighters like Mark Hunt, Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort, or recently crowned champion Benson Henderson, they all give the credit to the Big Guy. Maybe they’re on to something.
In conclusion, the Mark Hunt will be victorious this Saturday over Dos Santos. Hunt thrives as an underdog and is going to be too tough to finish.
Dos Santos will realize, if he’s ever going to outbox a Klitschko, that he needs to learn to throw punches while backing up. Hunt’s chin will be the deciding factor over Dos Santo’s cardio and the Super Samoan’s hot streak will continue because God wills it.
