We had quite a bit of down time in between events and now we have a UFC double header coming up. So with that here we go previewing:
UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov
Main Event: Demetrious Johnson #1 Flyweight vs. Ali Bagautinov #6 Flyweight
Prediction: Johnson by decision. Result: Same. Johnson ground out a decision against Bagautinov proving he is still atop the division.
Co-main Event: Tyron Woodley #3 Welterweight vs. Rory MacDonald #4 Welterweight
Prediction: Woodley by submission. Result: MacDonald by decision. MacDonald was able to overcome the rising momentum of Woodley.
Ryan Bader vs. Rafael Cavalcante
Prediction: Bader by strikes. Result: Bader by decision. It wasn’t impressive by Bader is working his way back up to contendership position.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Brendan Schaub
Prediction: Schaub by strikes. Result: Arlovski by decision. By no means was Arlovski’s return to the UFC impressive but a win’s a win.
Ryan Jimmo vs. Ovince St. Preux
Prediction: Jimmo by decision. Result: Preux by submission. Injuries unfortunately happen but Preux continues his upward rise with the W.
Overall score: 1.5/5; 0.3 prediction percentage. 1 point for Demetrious Johnson’s decision win and 0.5 points for Ryan Bader’s decision win.
UFC Fight Night: Te Huna vs. Marquardt
Main Event: James Te Huna vs. Nate Marquardt
Prediction: Te Huna by strikes. Te Huna is coming down in weight and Marquardt is going up and despite his experience Marquardt’s small.
Co-main Event: Soa Palelei vs. Jared Rosholt
Prediction: Rosholt by decision. Palelei is on the rise but so is Rosholt who has more of a wrestling base and is lighter as a heavyweight.
Hatsu Hioki vs. Charles Oliveira
Prediction: Oliveira by submission. Oliveira rebounded with a win against Andy Ogle and it looking to make it a two fight winning streak.
Robert Whittaker vs. Mike Rhodes
Prediction: Whittaker by strikes. Because of how well rounded Whittaker is, this fight could very well end in a knockout or a submission.
UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens
Main Event: Cub Swanson #4 Featherweight vs. Jeremy Stephens
Prediction: Swanson by strikes. Swanson is on a five fight winning streak and is now looking for a final win to gain a title shot against Aldo.
Co-main Event: Kevin Gastelum vs. Nicholas Musoke
Prediction: Gastelum by submission. Gastelum is a well rounded fighter and has incorporated his wrestling with his submissions skills.
Cezar Ferreira vs. Andrew Craig
Prediction: Craig by decision. Both men are rising stars in the UFC but Craig is known to grind his opponents for the length of the fight.
Ricardo Lamas #3 Featherweight vs. Hacran Dias
Prediction: Dias by submission. Both men are looking for rebound wins and Dias is the up and coming prospect with very much potential.
Clint Hester vs. Antonio Braga Neto
Prediction: Neto by submission. Both men are rising prospects in the UFC but Neto seems to have more momentum and experience.
Joe Ellenberger vs. James Moontasri
Prediction: Ellenberger by decision. Both of these men are relative unknowns in the UFC but so was Junior dos Santos in his UFC debut.
