The episode opens with all of Team Dillashaw wearing their new Team Killashaw shirts in which Cody Garbrandt says that they are truly accepting their identities.
Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw then proceed to start arguing while the weigh-ins between Hayder Hassan and Jesse Taylor are happening and assistant coaches Duane Ludwig from Team Dillashaw and coaches Justin Buchholz and Danny Castillo get into the argument as well.
Dana White talks about how this match is an example of striker versus grappler since Hassan is primarily a striker whereas Taylor is primarily a wrestler.
During the match, Hassan is able to stop a few of Taylor’s take down attempts before Taylor is able to take Hayder down and work some ground and pound before taking Hayder’s back. Hayder is able to hand fight and stop a rear naked choke attempt several times before Taylor finally sinks it in and submits him.
With Hayder’s loss, Team Garbrandt has been completely eliminated from the competition and Dillashaw is happy about it, hoping that it will shut Garbrandt up.
Dillashaw then announces that the final match will be Ramsey Nijem versus James Krause.
Before Nijem goes to the Octagon, he comments how he has Palestinian cousins living in war zone conditions in Gaza and yet they are the ones sending him messages of encouragement which motivates him.
The first round is mainly controlled by Krause with striking and at the end of the round he attempts a guillotine choke which ultimately doesn’t pan out.
Round two is mainly controlled by Nijem on the feet and as a result the fight goes to a third round.
While the third round is close, Krause is able to do enough to pull a victory off despite the fact that he has some possible damage to his eye.
Because Dana is in Los Angeles taking care of business, coaches Garbrandt and Dillashaw talk to him over skype on how the semifinal matches should be made.
Both coaches have different match ups in mind and again, Grabrandt criticizes Dillashaw for his recommendations on how the matches should be made.
In the end the first semifinal is Dhiego Lima up against Tom Gallicchio and the second match up is between Taylor and Krause.
One of the underlying worries though going into the semifinals is the damage that Krause took to his eye which may take him out of the competition.
