Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) will launch a new bantamweight division this spring May 10 at “MFC 37: True Grit”, and has already found a face for their newest division.
Anthony Birchak, a (9-1) Arizona native, has signed a four fight deal with the Canadian promotion as its first bantamweight. Birchak has been in contact with the Maximum Fighting Championship since October and is thrilled to be a part of their organization.
“I’m super excited for this opportunity. To be the first fighter to be signed means a lot to me,” Birchak said. “I feel like they set the bar really high and anyone they sign from here on out should be afraid.”
Birchak is a decorated wrestler with dangerous striking and went 3-0 in 2012 with three TKO stoppages. That gives him a three-fight win streak after suffering his first loss in September 2011. He started his pro career 6-0, including five submission wins in his first five fights and is ready to make a statement and become the MFC’s first bantamweight champion.
“I have everything it takes to be the first champion in the MFC,” Birchak said. “I told Mark Pavelich (MFC Owner), You signed me as your first guy, that gives me the incentive to be your first champion, so whether you want it or other fighters want it, that’s what I have planned. I expect to come out in my first fight and end it violently.”
Birchak trains out of Tucson and gives everything he has to make sure one day he is the best well rounded mma fighter out there and couldn’t do it without his team and coaching staff.
“Everything I am now is because of all the guys I train with. They push me harder than any other camp out there and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.”
Birchak has never considered any of his fights easy and expects it to be no different in the MFC. He knows he has a large target on his back and he welcomes it.
“Whoever fights me better train everything and in all aspects. ALL bantamweights! Write this down! I’m dangerous everywhere!”
Birchak trains hard and considers himself a very confident person do to hard work and precision, and knows being a hard worker with confidence puts fighters sights on you a lot more.
“I want to have a target on my back not because I’m an asshole, but because I’m the best guy to beat.”
Being a well-rounded mixed martial arts fighter is everything now a days and Birchak, like many others, believe that wrestling it still a big part of mma, that if not learned and utilized, will leave you in the loss column.
“I’m a huge Johny Hendricks fan and have been since he fought for Oklahoma and is one of my favorite wrestlers”, Birchak said. “People are so afraid of his wrestling that if he makes one subtle level change, they drop their hands and are getting rocked by that left hand hammer. Wrestling plays a huge role in this sport and I’m confident if I go up against another wrestler that I can out-strike him. I’m confident that if I go up against a high level striker that I’ll out wrestle him. I’m confident if I go anywhere in that cage that I’m dangerous for anybody.”
Ken Stone and Byron Bloodworth are top bantamweight names (both just released from the UFC) who have great potential to be signed by the MFC and be Birchak’s first opponent.
“I’m going to let Mark do his job and get me some great competition. I know he is going to do his job and isn’t going to sign any punks, so I’m excited to see who he picks up.”
Birchak would like to personally take this time and thank all of us at MMA-Freak.com and the MFC.
“I want to thank the MFC for giving me this opportunity, they signed me and that puts a lot of pressure on me, but I want to thank them for all their time and effort that they have invested in me and believing in what Anthony Birchak is.”
