Due to inactivity Dominick Cruz, Johnny Eduardo, Brian Bowles, Michael McDonald, Mike Easton and Raphael Assuncao are all ineligible for the rankings. Also note the rankings are voted on by a panel of writers:
Top 10 Bantamweights (10/1/15)
1) T.J. Dillashaw (1)
UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw is preparing for his UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs. Cruz title defense against Dominick Cruz. This fight will be an unofficial lineal unification title fight for the championship.
2) Renan Barao (2)
Renan Barao‘s recent loss to T.J. Dillashaw has made him reconsider his weight class though nothing is in stone. It would make sense though considering his recent problems in making weight and still being competitive.
3) Urijah Faber (4)
While The Ultimate Fighter is airing, Urijah Faber is preparing for his fight against Frankie Saenz at UFC 194. It is unfortunate though that Faber will not be fighting opposing coach Conor McGregor, but maybe in the future.
4) Bibiano Fernandez (5)
Bibiano Fernandez is the highest ranked bantamweight outside the UFC, but the last time Fernandez defended his One Championship Bantamweight Championship in July at One Fighting Championship: Kingdom of Warriors.
5) Marlon Moraes (6)
WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes last defended his title against Sheymon Moraes at WSOF 22. Marlon Moraes has not defended his title since then and probably won’t before the new year in WSOF.
6) Marcos Galvao (7)
Marcos Galvao last fought in March at Bellator 135 when he avenged a loss against Joe Warren by submission. The submission was so solid that Warren screamed in pain, forcing the referee to stop the bout by submission.
7) Joe Warren (8)
Longtime Bellator veteran Joe Warren recently rebounded from a loss by defeating L.C. Davis at Bellator 143. Warren currently has nothing scheduled but depending on the right match up a title shot may a win or two away.
8) Takeya Mizugaki (9)
Takeya Mizugaki recently snapped a two fight losing streak by defeating George Roop on September 27th at UFC Fight Night: Barenett vs. Nelson in front of a hometown crowd at the historic Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
9) Eduardo Dantas (10)
Former Bellator Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas rebounded from a loss against Mike Richman. It’s hard to tell what the Nova Uniao member has planned and when he will fight next considering Bellator match ups.
10) Thomas Almeida (N/A)
Thomas Almeida looks to continue his undefeated streak by defeating Anthony Birchak this coming weekend. Birchak is a legitimate contender.
