Multiple reports over the weekend surfaced about a possible injury Luke Rockhold has suffered putting him on the shelf for Strikeforce’s November 3rd card. Rockhold (9-0 SF) was scheduled to defend his middleweight title against Lorenz Larkin (4-0 SF) in the night’s co-feature, and after the injury the fight looks like it will have to be put on hold. News of Rockhold’s (wrist) injury was first reported by The MMA Corner. The injury is the latest blow to Strikeforce’s card in Oklahoma City, which now is missing main and co-main events. Strikeforce’s Nov. 3 card is scheduled to take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Daniel Cormier and UFC heavyweight Frank Mir were expected to lock horns in the main event, but Mir pulled out with an injury. UFC President Dana White recently revealed that an attempt to have Matt Mitrione fight Cormier fell through do to Mitrione turning down the fight. Rockhold-Larkin where expected to serve as the co-main event on the card, and now it seems the Strikeforce card has neither a main or co main event. That leaves the card without a main event while the UFC looks for a replacement for Mir. This comes just weeks after the promotion was forced to cancel its Sept. 29 show in Sacramento, Calif., when top prospect, lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez pulled out with an injury. Following Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza’s dominant first round destruction win over Derek Brunson in August, fans expected a rematch between Souza and Rockhold for the middleweight title. Strikeforce CEO Scott Cokerannounced Rockhold would not be defending his belt in a rematch with Souza, but instead booked the meeting between Rockhold-Larkin. Now it appears Larkin’s title fight will be put on hold.
