Top 10 Bantamweights (2/26/16)
1) Dominick Cruz (1)
Dominick Cruz will be defending his title at UFC 199 on June 4th against Urijah Faber to finalize the trilogy. The last time an attempt at settling the score was at the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter Live back in May of 2012.
2) T.J. Dillashaw (2)
It’s currently unknown when T.J. Dillashaw will fight for a rebound win from his loss to Dominick Cruz. What makes sense is facing a lower ranked opponent and with the schedule being as open as it is there are many options.
3) Renan Barao (3)
Renan Barao could possibly earn that long coveted match with Dominick Cruz with a good placed win or two. He is also contemplating a move up to featherweight due to a difficult time cutting weight as of late but isn’t certain.
4) Urijah Faber (4)
The trilogy will finally be settled as Urijah Faber fights Dominick Cruz at UFC 199 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Both men didn’t hold back at the UFC Unstoppable news conference in bickering back and forth.
5) Bibiano Fernandez (5)
Bibiano Fernandez successfully defended his title against Kevin Belingon on January 23rd in Changsha, China. It is unknown how long Fernandez will be in One Championship or when he will defend his title next.
6) Marlon Moraes (6)
In one of the more impressive technical knockouts, Marlon Moraes kicked out Joseph Barajas’ legs under him. His post fight interview resulted in an insinuation that he might be heading to the UFC soon but it isn’t known when.
7) Eduardo Dantas (9)
Eduardo Dantas was supposed to defend his title at Bellator 150 last month but it was scrapped at the last minute. Challenger and Dantas’ former protege Marcos Galvao fell ill and the rescheduling of the rematch is unknown.
8) Marcos Galvao (7)
Unfortunately Marcos Galvao’s challenge against Eduardo Dantas fell through last month due to illness. The feud is something that will probably be settled with a rescheduled match.
9) Michael McDonald (10)
Michael McDonald has nothing scheduled but hopefully will fight soon unlike his last layoff lasting over two years. He does have quite a bit of options and many of the contenders are open for a scheduled match in the summer.
10) Takeya Mizugaki (N/A)
It’s currently unknown who Takeya Mizugaki’s next opponent will be since his win against George Roop.
